Funfetti Cupcakes

Today I made Funfetti cupcakes, my absolute favorite kind of cake. Funfetti, to those who may not know, is a decadent and delicious creation made by Pillsbury which is basically just vanilla cake mix to which they include a packet of sprinkles which you add directly into the batter. The best part of the Funfetti cake, though, is the frosting that comes with it. Like the cake mix, the frosting also comes with a packet of sprinkles. Throughout the year, Pillsbury sells special seasonal Funfetti varieties which come in different themes and colors. On this particular day, I used the "Spring" Funfetti cake mix.

Below is a picture of six baked and frosted cupcakes:

They were absolutely delicious, as usual.

Jacques Torres Chocolates

Today I had the opportunity to visit the Dumbo outpost of the Jacques Torres Chocolate shop (66 Water Street, Brooklyn, NY, 11201). Among the many options to indulge one's sweet tooth are a wide assortment of truffles, ranging from the most simple featuring plain dark chocolate ganache, to others with premium earl grey tea infused in a dark creamy center. At the shop you have the option of selecting a box which can hold either 12, 25, or 50 truffles of your choosing. On this particular trip I chose the 12 piece box which will cost you $18.

My selections included: 2 "80%," 3 "Love Potion #9," 1 "Champagne Kiss," 1 "Cinnamon Praline," 1 "Liquid Caramel," 1 "PB &J," 1 "Love Bug," 1 "Chocolate Peanut Brittle," and 1 "Cappucino."

Before I remembered to snap this picture, I had already eaten the "Love Bug" which consisted of Key Lime Ganache kissed with white chocolate. It was extremely tasty with the smooth white chocolate perfectly complementing the subtle citrus flavor of the lime. I can't wait to try the others, especially the dark chocolate ones which are typically my favorite!
